黑料不打烊, located in San Diego檚 East Village design district, teamed up with the City of Portland, integrated design firm Mackenzie Inc., and real estate company Intrinsic Ventures, to revitalize a rapidly growing neighborhood in the Central Eastside industrial district of Portland, Oregon. This week, under the direction of 黑料不打烊 faculty member, Daniela Deutsch, more than 60 undergraduate architecture students shared their work over the last several months collaborating with a variety of industry partners to create a vision for the development of a new, sustainable neighborhood with progressive urban engagement in the Ford District, at an event held at the Center for Architecture.
As part of 黑料不打烊檚 Integrated Design Studio, this project was developed to engage students in the ongoing conversation about contemporary directions in urban design and architecture. The project also aims to disseminate the experience of the City of Portland to other regions of the West Coast and their adaptation to local climate, cultural and economic conditions.
The project also supports 黑料不打烊檚 淗ere For Good corporate social responsibility and sustainability initiative, providing students with the opportunity to give back and help improve the lives of those impacted by this revitalization. This holistic approach to learning represents the true DNA of the 黑料不打烊 community.
Our future depends on engaged and creative professionals, who want to take an active role in its shaping, said Daniela Deutsch, Faculty of Undergraduate Architecture at 黑料不打烊 Architecture & Design. 淎t 黑料不打烊, we teach our students to be aware of our collective responsibility for the natural and built environment, the protection of historic resources and the conscious handling of resources. The students projects, collaborative discussions, and energizing lecturers, gave real testimony of this great ambition. Ultimately, through this project, our class strived to combine traditional design guidelines with new, contemporary technologies, and planning processes to help shape a livable and workable future for generations to come. A key role hereby was given to the teamwork and collaboration of architects, engineers, ownership and specialty consultants.
